Comfort Creek Doodles
Who We Are
Beginnings: Founded by Dr. Kelly Burdette, Comfort Creek Doodles developed as a natural extension of her long-established Puffnstuff Cockapoos breeding program, which began in 1992.
Meet Our Founder

Kelly Burdette, DVM
I am a small animal veterinarian and graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine with over 30 years of experience. This background allows me to thoughtfully select for health, temperament, and overall quality, with a strong focus on raising well-balanced companion dogs.
First-Generation Goldendoodles
They All Joined Us!
All of our puppies are first-generation (F1) Goldendoodles—a true 50/50 cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. This pairing combines the affectionate, easygoing nature of the Golden Retriever with the intelligence and coat qualities of the Poodle, while also benefiting from hybrid vigor.
The Program
Our program focuses on producing mid-size Goldendoodles, typically ranging from 25–50 pounds. Golden Retrievers are used as the sires, paired with carefully selected smaller Poodle dams to help maintain a consistent, manageable size. Coat types generally range from wavy to curly, with many being low to non-shedding.
Daily Care & Environment
Located on more than nine acres in the countryside of Southwest Virginia near Virginia Tech, our dogs are raised in a natural, enriched setting just steps from my home. Puppies have space to run and play, along with safe indoor and outdoor areas designed for their comfort and development.
I am supported by two long-term, full-time assistants who have each worked with me for over 15 years. Together, we provide consistent daily care, early socialization, and guidance for families as they prepare to welcome their new puppy.
Health & Veterinary Care
In addition to my breeding program, I own Town and Country Veterinary Clinic & Emergency Hospital, where all of our dogs receive complete veterinary care. Puppies are raised under close supervision, with careful attention to health, development, and overall well-being.
Puppies are typically ready for their new homes between 7–9 weeks of age, though older puppies may occasionally be available. At placement, puppies will have received age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, and a complete health record, along with a two-year written health guarantee.
Training & Optional Services
For families seeking a smoother transition, we offer optional training for puppies over 12 weeks of age. Training may include crate training, house-training, basic manners, and early socialization, and is typically recommended for 7–14 days.
Additional services include:
- Spay/neuter and microchipping
- Ground transportation (home delivery or meeting halfway with trusted drivers)
- Flight nanny service for safe air travel
Our Mission
Our goal is to raise healthy, well-adjusted dogs that transition easily into family life and provide years of companionship. At Comfort Creek Doodles, we focus on producing dogs that are not only beautiful, but truly exceptional companions—specializing in comfort companions, devoted shadows, and bed warmers.
